Have you forgotten about the thousands of people who live and work within a few minutes of that intersection? They can't (and shouldn't) all run home and hide in their houses on the outskirts of downtown. ;)

Absolutely many people can't handle the responsibility of having credit, but to blame the financial institution for not taking it away from you is pretty silly.
