    Southport Weekender 49: Minehead, UK

Big 50 coming up this weekend!! The line up is a bit insane. Have my highlighters out and planning my must-sees. Review (hopefully) forthcoming once the fog clears next week!

    Southport Weekender 49: Minehead, UK

Hello all! As I sit by the lake at my cottage in Prince Edward County, celebrating the Canadian Victoria Day long weekend, my Southport Weekender in Minehead, UK seems way more than just a week away: it's a warm and fuzzy blur, snippets of memory with no defining or distinctive order. Even...

Southport Weekender 48 - 25th Anniversary, Minehead, Somerset UK

Leaving on a jet plane in a few short hours... from going alone last year to now having a UK boyfriend and a crew of about 50 people meeting me there... a lot has changed! Hopefully will have time (and brain bandwidth) to write a proper review next week. Black Coffee tomorrow night... what?!?

    Jimpster - wrongbar edition

For what it's worth, I was hanging out with him in Manchester a few months back, and we got to talking about his Toronto gigs. He loves playing in TO and said we've got a very sophisticated crowd who gets it. Guy is uber smart and switched on. Also an incredibly nice guy and devoted family man...

    Nuit Blanche

What makes it different is the artwork on the pass, as well as it's good until 9am on Sunday -- a regular weekend day pass is only good for that day.

    Nuit Blanche

Incorrect. The metro passes have always been available for roughly the same price, the TTC has never been free, and they are not branded by Scotiabank - they feature the artwork of the event.

    Nuit Blanche

HAHAHAHAHA.... I came in here after a long hiatus to see if there was any buzz. Sorry to have let you down ladies! But yeah, house music festivals in Spain, road trips in Wales, big nights out in Birmingham and my move to Florence in two days has prevented me from spreading the Nuit Blanche...

Southport Weekender 48 - 25th Anniversary, Minehead, Somerset UK

Having seen both and loving them equally, it had more to do with the venue at that point - Krivit was in the more intimate Connosseur's Corner and I wanted a change of scenery. You would certainly be a worthy dance floor partner in crime! :) Track id: 1960 What? by Gregory Porter Gregory...

Scott you were the one who introduced me to the SPW sets in the house room so many years ago! For that I'll be forever grateful :)

Southport Weekender 48 - 25th Anniversary, Minehead, Somerset UK

I’d never heard of the UK’s Southport Weekender until 2005 when I first discovered the wonder that is sweet soulful house music. Friends had pointed me in the direction of recorded sets from the festival by Kerri Chandler, Masters at Work, DJ Spen and others that were in constant rotation on my...

    RIP, Jack Layton

Great stories KW... thanks for sharing. I too have some great memories of Jack and Olivia in my early, heady days with the young NDP... and I'm more inspired now than ever in the face of his legacy to be and enact the change I want to see in the world. There will be an impromtu, informal...
