sampling off of vinyl
does anyone have any tips for this? are there certain kinds of needles that are better suited towards this kind of thing?

The issue isn't really the cart you're using, but rather the soundcard depth (24 bit?+) and the software you're using for clean-up. However, truth-be-told, I do not use my 1200s for vinyl samples - I have a audiophile Dual CS-430 w/ an ortofon cart that I use exclusively for sampling (and playing LPs) Obviously though, you should be looking at using a cart that has the broadest frequency range of response

thanks stephen. i've got the mia (24 bit) and i'm recording into soundforge. my needles are kind of dirty though so i'm thinking of getting one (or at least a new tip) specifically for sampling.
what are the disadvantages of using a 1200 compared to a turntable like you mentioned? |
