i was in new york city all day on tuesday. we drove by ground zero, and it was fucked. it was pure ruble. the church next door has been shut down and transformed into a relief center. seeing all the pictures, paintings, posters, flowers, etc dedicated to those who lost their lives is something i won't soon forget.

wow!!

THose 9/11 pics are really powerful. I especially like the fourth one in black and white. I heard there is a gallery in New York that just had pics from civilians and amateur photographers who were there that day. I wonder if these are from there.

personally i didnt like that b/w pic there. something about that womans face. she feels evil.

i've been staring at these pics for the past hour or so. the emotions they bring back are overwhelming, keep having to wipe away tears every so often.

but then theres the pictures that anger me. not because lives were lost. but because it just feels so opportunist for some...like newspaper reporters, who just..i dunno..it feels trivialized, everyone with their cameras, god there's sooo many pictures...it feels just like paparazi trying to capture a million dollar image as oppossed to capturing a life altering event or the mood of the people.

just pictures for the newspapers, magazine covers, tabloids, etc.

and sure its not everyones intent, hel, could just be my over thinking...but when i see images such as this, thats the impression that i get.

sure they are shocked and sad..but i feel that at the same time they're all thinking "wow, this is gonna be one amazing roll of pictures when im done!!"

in a happy tone.

its disturbing to me...anyone else go through all these pictures and picked up on a similar sense??

The same reason why people would want to have an issue of Time Magazine, Macleans or any other magazine that covered Sept. 11.

I'm a little skeptical as to whether this is in good taste or not, as you don't exactly see images of Hiroshima and Nagasaki flying off the shelves in Japan.

Hey, this picture is taken from New Jersey! That spot (right near the state park for the staue of liberty) is 10 minutes from my house. Just a little unimportant and unrelated info. But still gave me that warm fuzzy feeling associated with going home. (only another month or so)

i disagree

i think magazines have articles nad stories and what not to explain....
you know how a pictureis worth a thousand words...
if you didnt know what these were all about, say in 50 years or whatevre, you'd ask "why does this dude have a picture of a family getting bombed (and so on.. to each respective picture..)

i just feel the look of fear and discontent in the peoples eyes speaks volumes, and i wouldnt want that on my walls
