Daniel Craig Turns Down Thor
Monday, October 20th, 2008 at 2:41 pm The scoop lords over at IESB have let us in on some saucy news! It appears capitalist commander Sanchez has found out that Daniel Craig turned down the role of Thor! Peep this !! IESB asked if Craig was interested in doing something a little different character-wise, like Thor? Craig said no, he turned it down and laughed about it. Sanchez continued, “seriously, I heard the folks over at Marvel had you on a short list to be Thor.” Craig said yes they [Marvel] did approach him but he turned it down. He added jokingly, it would have been too much of a power trip, both Bond and Thor, and running around with long hair and a hammer. May your laughter turn to locusts that eat for face Craig! The thunder god will not be scoffed! I am glad Craig turned down Thor, I like him as an actor but I can’t see him in a winged helmet holding an Uru hammer. Brad Pitt on the other hand, is man that was born to wear a winged helmet. I just wish he was taller, but platform boots could save the day. Thor wore pretty magnificent boots and building them up would certainly work for both practical and aesthetic purposes. Would any of you have like to see Craig as Thor? I like him as James Bond but am glad he passed on this one. If any of you disagree with me, I would love to hear your reasons why or even alternate casting choices. ------- ------- ------- ------- ------- ^ this news is appearing on fanboy sites everywhere. alls i gotta say is, holy crap, i can't believe anyone would turn down the lead role in THOR. geeeeez. |

Maybe he read the script and it sucks?
Or maybe he found out that he was the second choice, after Triple H. |

^ in reading up on this, i see that kenneth branagh is now confirmed to DIRECT the THOR movie. i wonder if he was the one that wanted daniel craig:
Thor Beats the Bard Branagh ditches Hamlet for Marvel. by Jim Vejvoda October 15, 2008 - Actor-filmmaker Kenneth Branagh was last reported as being in negotiations to direct Marvel's big screen version of Thor, and now it appears that the Oscar nominee has cleared his schedule in order to accommodate the God of Thunder. According to both What's on Stage and The Coventry Telegraph, Branagh has pulled out of directing Hamlet at Wyndham's Theatre next year in order to film Thor. Branagh's Sleuth star Jude Law will play Hamlet on stage. Branagh previously starred in and directed a 1996 film version of Hamlet. Hamlet is scheduled to run from late May through late August 2009, which suggests that Thor will film sometime next summer in order to make its July 16, 2010 release date. Thor will shoot at Raleigh Studios in Manhattan Beach, CA. |

I'm wondering what version of Thor they'll go with.
The possibly mental case who thinks he's the Son of Odin when nobody believes him. or Dr. David Blake/Thor living inside one body but sharing two minds. |

or nobody knows or cares much about thor other than comic-geeks so they'll simplify him as much as possible (maybe make him actually thor) and produce a craptastic movie where he battles his demons both metaphorical and literal.
And maybe if were lucky a metal soundtrack. |

has anyone seen any mention of the hulk blu-ray blunder in any newspaper yet? according to this thread on blu-ray.com, the blunder affects all of canada.
http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=67413 i would love to hear what caused the blunder, how widespread it is and how much money will be lost by the movie company as a result. i emailed the toronto star about it yesterday, but am not sure if they picked up the story. |

At least they'll have an ample backstock of the old 2003 Hulk Blu Ray on hand. |

Buck Rogers Update
Frank Miller reportedly ready to make an announcement. by Jim Vejvoda October 23, 2008 - IGN Movies broke the news in May that comic book icon-turned-filmmaker Frank Miller would direct the big screen return of Buck Rogers. IGN was later advised by production company Nu Image/Millennium Films that no deal had yet been set for the rights or Miller, and that they were still mulling over director contenders. Now it sounds like that's been settled. IESB attended the recent Spike TV Scream 2008 Awards where they interviewed Deborah Del Prete, producer of Miller's upcoming solo directing debut The Spirit. Del Prete reportedly said that Miller "would be making an announcement soon" about a classic sci-fi hero that he was going to make a movie about. IESB followed up with its sources in Miller's camp who confirmed that the sci-fi hero alluded to by Del Prete is indeed Buck Rogers. Nu/Image had yet to respond to IESB's calls for comment at time of publish. We originally reported that Buck Rogers would be budgeted in the $40 million range. The cheapness of the low-budget effects will be a running joke in the movie, which will retain the campiness of the 1980s TV series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. ------- ------- ------- ------- ------- good christ, this sounds horrible. |

Agreed. Frank Millar is sucking the Hollywood Teet a bit too much lately methinks. Of course, he is bat-shit insane. |

Spending 40 Million to make something that's intentionally campy? Put the pipe down, Miller.

oh I wonder if he'll treat it in that revolutionary way that makes colour motion picture look like a 2D b&w comic book.

Totes. That Spirit movie looks like The Shadow but in his stupid black and white gimmick and with a distinct lack of Alec Baldwin.
