It's not Star Crossed, or close to say any of the Batman Animated shizz (ie Mask of the Phantasm, I loved it) but it's wildly entertaining. I liked the JL in the 50's and 60's. Doogie Houser is excellent as the Flash and Sisto does rock as Batman. Ok plotline, good action...but...rent it Will, don't buy it

I know nothing about the Watchmen. Can anyone name 2-3 comics I can read about them? Preferably ones I can find online?

^ THE WATCHMEN was a limited series (12 or 15 issues in total i think) that has since been published in TPB (trade-paperback) format.

the TPB, which contains the entire story, is available at any comic store for about $20-25. or you can order it from amazon.com (not .ca) for $14 (new) or $9 (used).

I really, really want to see this, the guy who directed Nightwatch and Daywatch is directing, Mark Millar says he's liked what he's seen so far, and the gratuitous use of parkour looks promising.

amongst the uber nerds and fanboys online - you're alone.
they've basically taken the premise and took a huge dump on it, painted in the matrix and re-wrapped it calling the film 'Wanted'. people are already dubbing it WINO (wanted-in-name-only) and indeed Millar has given it the thumbs up. just a few years ago Ennis gave the thumbs up to The Punisher and we all saw how that turned out...there's no end to purchased endorsements. gotta be. or the writers are high. WINO might be a good film but it's nearly nothing like what was printed a couple yrs. ago. that book was the bomb. the changes done go way beyond 'organic web shooters' or a '6 ft. tall logan'.

Will, if you have the digital cable package, there's the CW/WB out of buffalo in the channel 100-200 range, I can't remember the channel

To say the least. There's some really great choices like Eccelston, Vosloo and Quaid, but then there's other choices that come completely out of left feild (Marlon Wayans? Let's hope it's the Requiem Wayans). I've read that Common has been approached as well for a part (maybe Stalker?)

It might be because they're departing from the book, which felt a bit like a very quick idea based on the time it was written (the main character looking so much like Eminem, the strong embrace of the anti-hero trend that was going on in comics at the time), and that they're updating it (call me a fool, but I'm a sucker for a good parkour sequence in a movie). I like the casting too with Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman, Common and James MacAvoy.

Yeah, I'll probably be the only one that likes it, but I dug Nightwatch and Daywatch for it's sheer ingenuity and great direction (both movies were made for about $4m, which is pretty impressive for how the movies both look and feel), which I hope he brings to this.

^ you're right, the movie will look awesome and the director is truly amazing.

i think part of the appeal 'wanted' had was the eminem character look and that he wasn't an anti hero at all, he was just plain evil (see the last page and the characters last comments to the reader). plus the concept that the bad guys had won and killed all the good guys...kinda cool.

this film will have none of that. never mind the lack of 'shithead', easily the books best badguy.

that new SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN cartoon sucks ass. it's as childish and gay as the crappy FANTASTIC FOUR and LEGION OF SUPERHEROES cartoons.

it's as if someone has decided to make all the new animated shows for the 12 and under crowd, as opposed to the previous thinking which was to make the shows enjoyable by older audiences as well.

i also caught the new THE BATMAN: LOST HEROES movie, which they showed right after the spidey premiere. the animation on that show is quite good, and i like the look of the justice league characters, but man, the writing is atrocious and the result is a very pale imitation of the old JL/JLU series.

Superherohype.com reports that Iron Man may get an early release like April 30th with a brand new awesome looking Indiana Jones trailer

News

Iron Man to Open Early?
Source: ComingSoon.net
March 11, 2008

ComingSoon.net reports that Andrew Cripps, President of Paramount Pictures International, announced at ShoWest's International Day on Monday that Iron Man will be released Day-and-Date worldwide on April 30. What is unclear is whether that means North America will also get the movie two days earlier than the planned May 2 release. One thing to support that we will, is that Paramount is planning another Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull trailer for April, presumably with another Paramount movie, of which the biggest one would be Iron Man (if it indeed opens here on April 30.)

watchmen can be amazing.

the idea that they're not as much superheroes as masked villains will probably transfer good to movie. less to take away with oos and aaahs of special effects
