goto sportchek. I work at sportchek, and we've got some nice solomon's out. Solomon' inlinez usually tend to run at around $320, however we do have a specific last years modle that is running for around $270 right now. I think they're called the solomon speedsters?? urgh, i have been off of work lately cuz im sick, but sportchek is the way to go!!! are u looking for a softboot or hardboot?

Hi,

I assume since you mentioned the Salomons brand, you're looking for recreational as opposed to aggressive skates. In that case:

My recommendations would be Sporting Life (two locations on Yonge near Lawrence), Athlete's World or Collegiate/Sports Experts. I dunno if they have started displaying skates yet - it may be too early.

Salomon's are kinda pricey...I know they make really good skis, but I haven't heard anything good or bad about their skates. Ditto with Nike skates. If you're considering other brands, look at K2 - soft boot, comfortable, but some models are a bitch to lace up.

Roces and Ultrawheel are also good skates - mid-price range, durable, comfortable and not altogether butt-ugly.

Stay away from the Rollerblade brand...they are unreliable and prone to breaking...

If you're not scared by online ordering, I would suggest you try looking at American sporting goods websites. A lot of them carry styles that we never get here in Canada. You can also order last year's or discontinued models at good prices. Just do a search on google.com to bring up some sites. Hope this helps...

I'm more looking for New Model... I like the "Black" Series or the "FreeSkate Crossmax TM" Series.

Do you give store Discount? <- kidding

-Nickers - I hate shopping, but I love Blading

well i could give u a discount if u wanted. I get 25% off. but it might be 20% off on hardgoods. My discount is good at any sportchek, however i live in Hamlton. I really wouldn't mind hooking u up with a deal. I know inlines are quite pricey!

That's good that you're looking for your skates early. I used to work at Sporting Life and some inline models would sell out really quickly... selling out in the sense that the models are no longer available from the manufacturers.

One tip... Buy early or you may not be able to get what you want.

Albert- missing my Sporting Life discount

I'd like to start Skating as soon as I can... If it hits 15' out there... I want to be blazing.

My last pair of Skates are Salomons... they are wikid... lasted me a good 4 years... they are still good, but I'm looking at all the new technologies and they excite me.

Anywho... I believe in Salomon's, just dont know where to buy nice ones in Toronto.

I"m partial to the TR magnesium elite...

But I'm really looking for the "Black Edition" or the "Crossmax TM" I want to know what the price tag on these is before I make a decision.

Chaching!

So Jen Sweetie... if you get better and go to work,... can you find out what the new series of Salomon's are?

I'm looking on the expensive side

Thanks Darling,

-Nickers

no problem at all!! we may not carry the 'crossmax tm' due to the price. However, i have a major offer to reveal to u. The employees at sportchek get sweet hookups with pro-deals. Every year we get one for K2, and solomon. This pro-deal enables us to buy the product 40% off from cost value. now, it varies each year, but that is pretty much the standard setting.

All i have to do is find a fellow employee who isn't using the pro-deal offer and get him to sign for them. many ppl. don't use these pro-deals, so it's not hard. I got wes' a nice pair of inlines lastyear thru our pro-deal. Once i receive notice of a pro-deal. i will let u know.

whoa! how many times can i say PRO-DEAL in a paragraph! haha

are you just looking for skates so you can skate around in or are you actually gonna skate!

i used to be sponsered at a shop in hamilton

my first skates were CE: tarmac rollerblade. they worked fine and i never had a problem with them..

then when i got the sponser i got Fatty K2's sooooooo the best skate ever. they make them K2 models now for just skating around in and stuff...

id suggest checking those out

Hey Joey,

I skate for fitness, and transportation, not necessarily to Rail Slide or Grind, although I wish I had the guts to throw myself off Railings and stuff, I'm more into getting arround.

I'm a bus chaser... Thinking about getting good blades so I can Skate to work (20Km) and maybe do big trips to the beaches, or Lakeshore and or the Don Valley...

So I'm looking for blades that have Good Speed and Wikid Comfort. Comfort being the most important. I'm not affraid to drop a good 500$ on a pair of Skates... it's the one Sport/Passtime I truely enjoy.

I've been skating(Inline) for a good 8 years now... and I'm pretty compentent.

So if you have any other suggestions of types of Skates that are Highly Rated, I'm all ears.

for u I'd probably suggest going with k2. try the k2 velocity's or something. Reasonably priced, and sooooooo comfortable. They're not like solomon's, but for ur level they sound perfect for yes.
