The two-year-old daughter of film stars Jude Law and Sadie Frost was rushed to hospital after swallowing part of an ecstasy tablet at a children's party, it emerged today.

Police said they were called by hospital staff after a toddler spent the night under observation after swallowing the drug.

Iris Law had to endure a stomach pump and brain scan following the incident at an exclusive club in London's West End, the Sun newspaper reported today.

The fast actions of Frost, 34, prevented Iris from swallowing the entire tablet. Law, 29, was alerted as he was filming in the US, the newspaper said.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said police were called at 4.11pm local time yesterday by a London hospital.

They were told a two-year-old female child was believed to have swallowed half a tablet of ecstasy.

"The child had been attending a children's party where she was believed to have picked up a tablet that had been left on the floor of the premises on Old Compton Street," the spokesman said.

"The premises had been used as a bar and nightclub on the Friday.

"It is believed that the child's mother discovered the two-year-old with an obstruction in her mouth. She managed to retrieve one half before it could be ingested.

"An ambulance took the child to the hospital where she was kept in for observation overnight. She was released Sunday morning.

"The tablet has been confirmed as ecstasy."

A spokesman for the Soho House Club, where the incident happened, refused to comment on the matter, saying only: "There was a private party. It was a private matter and because it was regarding members I am not allowed to say any more."

A police source said there was no suggestion that Iris's parents were guilty of neglect, adding: "There are no plans to take action against the parents of the victim. This is being considered as an unforeseen accident outside the parents' control."

The licensing branch of the Metropolitan Police has been informed and was deciding whether to take further action.

The couple celebrated the birth of their son, Rudy, just last month. They have another son, Rafferty, five, and Frost has an 11-year-old son Finley from a previous marriage.

My friend In london tells me you need 5 pills to equal 1 pill from here.

Apparently they're in the process of de-criminalizing ecstasy. If you get caught with 20 pills or less, you won't be charged. Which means 20 pills is considered personal use.

yeah, but a lot of people just read headlines and not entire articles, so they wouldn't find out that it wasn't Jude's fault. (people are idiots, remember) So it's still kinda bad press.

Yes. I've heard of toddlers swallowing anything from crayons to safety pins. You'd be surprised.

Also, if the pill was intact when ingested, then why would they even taste any bitterness at all? Most e's are "finished" with that nice enteric coating!

yes, but crayons don't have a bitterness that make you gag. I just can't see a kid put an E in his mouth and not spit it right out. Unless of course it was something else entirely.

Kids put stuff in their moth and swallow it instantly without tasting it. You think the kid swallowed that worm/crayon/pin/bug/dogshit because it tasted good? Its a helpless reaction - this is why you have to child-proof your home (or after-hours club turned kids party room), and have NOTHING they can fit in their mouths lying around.
