Laura - Remember - DON"T DRIVE LIKE MADNEZZ!!

Jus jokin' 'round...you'll do fine - just:
- don't speed,
- be *very* aware of all motorists and pedestrians
- check your mirrors constantly
- check your mirrors before signaling to change lanes
- check your blind spots
- leave yourself plenty of space between cars in front of you
- don't make any last minute/sudden maneuvers
- go easy on the gas and brake
- be sure to come to complete stops at stop signs and red lights (especially if you have to make a right turn)

Hey Laura,

The two most important things:

 • Don't go over the speed limit.
 • Look everywhere.

If you already have experience driving then the rest should come naturally. If you can keep from breaking these two rules, you can't really fail your test just from other minor slip-ups like messing up a parking job.

It says on one of the forms.. If you Brake the Law you fail immeditly and must return to GO. That includes Speeding. (Not verbatum)

My examiner was cool I was going down hill so I was applying the break so I didnt go over the limit. He asked Why I was doing that and I told him, I'm gonna be speeding if I dont break! He said by braking your signialing your intent to turn and to not worry about it just take my foot off the gas and coast.

This was going to be my tip. Taking a lesson a few days before really helps put those little things you forgot (like dont change lanes within 30 feet of a train crossing) back in the forefront. Also watch for School Zones and slow downto 40.
Other than that just relax, it goes by like *that* andit's really not that bad.

<--SO glad to have my G

Laura:

That's a good idea. I took a refresher course a few years ago when I had to take my G test, and it helped a lot. Mostly, because I had picked up a few bad driving habits over the years, and because I had no clue the proper form for doing a roadside emergency stop.

Good luck!

Peace,

Sabina

Don't do what I just did:

I've got a rental right now - a new Altima. And of course, like most normal people, I feel invincible behind the wheel of a rental. I'm on Yonge St just south of Steeles where there are 3 lanes each direction and a middle turning lane. I need to make a left so I pull into the turning lane and as I'm waiting for traffic to clear, this fucker in an older mercedes going the opposite direction pulls into the turning lane too cos he wants to make a left onto another street. I motion with my hands politely to tell him to back up but he waves me off. So now it's on. I pull right up to his bumper so he can't move (nor can I but I've got time while he's obviously in a hurry). He waves his arms at me but I just ignore him and then he tries to play it cool buy pulling out his cell phone and lighting up a smoke. So I turn off my ignition, pull the keys out and wave them at him and drop them on my dash. Turn on the maplights, pull out an issue of Stuff I just picked up and started flipping through. The look on his face was fucking priceless...he gave me the finger, and I blew him a kiss. Then he backed up and left. Small victories...

I'm soooo glad I got my licence before this whole Graduated licence thing got started.

Good Luck!!!!

Signal *duh* and L K when changing lanes.
The driveway pointer is a good one.
If they fail you cuz you can't parallel park, kick 'em in the head.
Don't speed.
And BE CONFIDENT.

A friend of mine failed because they were TOO nervous behind the wheel. Although those tester people can be real intimidating sometimes, be strong.

Best of luck laura. Don't worry... It'll be a cinch, just keep calm.

I had to do my DZ licence after my G so I can drive trucks... the G seems like a cinch in retrospect. We had to do an entire truck inspection for the class DZ test.

Let us know.
