Both of the top of the line Lexmark printers I have had in the past couple years have broken down after about a year or two of use.

color inkjet printers are dirtcheap because they screw you on the color cartridges which can sometimes cost as much as the printer itself.

HP is selling Inkjets at Futureshop for $69. They are flooding the market with cheap printers so that people will buy more ink.. it's literally cheaper to throw out the printer when it runs out of ink than it is to buy replacement cartridges (they come with 2)

Little know fact: HP loses $$ on every printer they sell - they make >70% margins on their toner.

Hope this helps

Buy a cheap Canon Bubble Jet Printer

Ink jets are easy to get screwed.
That's why you should get a cheap one so you get no regret.

Canon is usually compact and cheap for it's quailty(printing + speed).

i used to work at office place.
what they taught us was that:

lexmark entry level printers provide excellent quality but the ink is REDIC expensive. also, as people have mentioned, the reliability is questionable.

HP entry level printers are not as nice with respect to printing quality, but they offer the best value for printing (something like 500+ pages per cartridge, compared to lexmark which gets between 300-400 for about 15 dollars more)

i'd say spend the extra bit and get a medium to high ranged HP.

or if you don't need colour, get a laser.

My family got a lexmark z32 with their computer about 3 months ago. When I setup the printer for them, it broke (jammed when I put the cartridges in) So they sent us a new one. The same thing happened about 2 weeks ago, and they have another one on the way.

Shitty printers.

Peace,
Steve
