the television series thread
not specific to a certain series or not, but in the movie thread zoo recommended "generation kill" - and I've kept meaning to start.
other series I have enjoyed are: oz - amazing prison drama that pretty much supplied the actors for L&O L&O original series - what can I say? guilty pleasure, especially with ben stone as the DA dexter - for some reason I continue to watch it even though it keeps going off the rails then skipping on after the suspensful endings breaking bad - the best series next to oz that I have ever ever seen curb your enthusiasm - love it in bits and pieces californication - only saw s1 YOUR RECOMMENDED LIST? Heroes? Lost? I hear the wire is awesome, haven't seen it yet 6 feet under - loved it until alyg ruined season 6 for me by telling me the ending.. |

just taking my gf through The Sopranos, and I have to say I miss the fuck out of this show. so good. will never be topped.
my other notables are... Rescue Me Oz 24 (seasons 1-3 only. just pretend it ended after 3) Lost (though that could change if they drop the ball in this final season) |

I am watching season 2 of Breaking bad right now. I kind of vacillate back and forth from loving it to being bored. I really find his wife and kid super boring, I realize they give the motivation, but I just hate when they have their own time on screen.
I actually stopped watching the first season at episode four, and only caught 5-6 on a plane, luckily they reminded me how good it could be. |

Breaking Bad -- Disclaimer - Ive only watched the first 2 episodes -- Can someone explain the appeal of this show? It's about as realistic and meaningful to the meth crisis in South Western US as Prison Break is to the penal system. I felt it devoid of any meaning or statement and totally unwatchable.

Brotherhood was a similar show. Showtime's answer to the Sopranos, ran for two seasons. The second season had one of the greatest episodes of TV I have ever seen. |

Been on a big Ghost Hunters kick lately (almost by default, it's on at a time I'm often watching TV and nothing else good is on). I love/hate this show so much!
Questions... What the shit is up with GHI? These guys are such losers, especially what's-his-name with the frosted tips. I want fuckin' TAPS back! How do they come up with the "words" that they attribute to most random noises, and why would a ghost in Romania or Spain be speaking English to them anyway? Does the camera closing in on the EMF meter not have an electromagnetic field of its own? And the question that's been bugging me the most since I started watching this show: On one hand they explain that they carry their infrared temperature meter because "ghosts often turn the air around them cold". But then in the next scene, they're showing some heat signature on the camera that they suspect is a ghost too. Shouldn't a ghost then appear as a cold spot on the camera instead of a hot spot? How can it be both? |
