Mackenzie Phillips, troubled TV child star and daughter of rock legend John Phillips of the Mamas and Papas, has revealed to People Magazine that she had consensual sex with her father and that he was the first person to inject her with heroin.

According to People Magazine, Phillips reveals in her book, High on Arrival, which is released Wednesday, that her dad engaged with her in ``a long-term incestuous relationship.''

Phillips, 49, told the magazine that while she was playing a teenager on the TV sitcom One Day at a Time, her father had sex with her on the night before she was to marry Jeff Sessler, a member of the Rolling Stones entourage, in 1979.

Phillips writes about how on the eve of her wedding at the age of 19, her father showed up, determined to stop it. She said she had ``tons of pills'' and eventually passed out, according to People.

``My father was not a man with boundaries. He was full of love, and he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father,'' Phillips writes, as quoted by People.

Phillips also tells the magazine about she was fired from One Day at a Time in 1980 because of her constant drug use. She also talks about her fling with Mick Jagger.

Um it's not a stretch to think that she was engaging in such crazy behaviour because of the incest is it? If your own father is injecting you with drugs and having sex with you I think some craziness is in order. To accuse her of lying for the purpose of money-grubbing without any knowledge or experience with parental abuse and the damage it can cause is really callous.

And relatives almost always deny that abuse could have occurred and obviously are going to be upset that she's shaming the family. The only reason something that fucked up could go on for so long is because the family was in denial, her step-mother admits that Mackenzie was always too familiar with her dad and says that when she mentioned it the dad said that that's just how she is. To me that says the step-mom knew something wasn't right but she didn't do anything about it, of course she's going to deny that it could have happened. The other factor is jealousy, a really ugly factor but not uncommon.

It is often difficult for family members, especially the wives of men involved in incest, to accept that such relationships have occurred literally under their noses and many find refuge in denial that it ever took place at all or blaming the female in the abusive relationship. But when the accusations and allegations are true, denial and blame become the sanctuaries of a parent who feels guilty for not providing the protection that the child needed. This could be the case with John Phillips' former wives.

Her sister Chynna is corroborating the details about the shared drug abuse and says she believes her story. I think it's telling that it's the mother figures who are denying it could have happened.

She's repeatedly said that she's telling the incest story because she knows she can't be the only one it's happened to, but NO ONE talks about it because it's just too upsetting and disgusting.

yep to all of what you said.

I have a friend who had this happen to her, like with her own father, and everyone accused her of lying. I think the worst part for her was that her mother didn't believe her.

I don't think father daughter incest is too uncommon and I think EVERYONE'S first instinct is to think the daughter is lying, for whatever reason.
