^father daughter incest unfortunately
in some parts of this city, in some communities, it can be the main reason for sexual assault...

It's not as uncommon as you might think. Not at all.

to accuse me of being callous for thinking these might be lies because you think i have no knowledge or experience with parental abuse and the damage it can cause is just ignorant. it's none of your business what the story is behind my knowledge and experience of lying about abuse, but let's just say i've been smack in the middle of a situation with someone i knew very well back in the day, and it's more disgusting to lie about the situation than it is to have it actually happen to you.

so no, i'm not callous. i'm just careful about what i believe now, in ANYTHING like this.

end rant.

based on the number of people I know who have had sex with their own dads, no. it's not as uncommon as you might hope.

"well I know XX people who did ABC and D and that means that it's a phenomenon, sweeping the nation."

"X is lying because I don't trust them. I really don't know them or anything about them, but I'm more trustworthy about their life experience than they are, clearly. I don't trust them from the get-go and that's all anyone else needs to know."

<Miscellaneous arguments about whether two people can have the same opinion, argued slightly differently, but one of them must be more correct than the other.>

Well I used to work for an organization that is involved in keeping the peace in this city - heavily involved shall we say.

They would get calls for the neighbourhood around where I am actually that started out as a disturbance, or a domestic, and that would turn out to be a sexual assault/incest case. A noticeable number of them.
I'm not going to cast aspersions on any community on this board publicly, but it was shocking to me to find this out.

I think your response is callous because you're saying she's broke, she's mentally ill, she's a recovering drug addict, therefore she's lying. I think it's super harsh to blame the victim straight away when it's clearly her own family who messed her up, whether or not her dad also sexually abused her on top of all of that. No one is denying her allegations that he injected her with drugs while she was a child, so why is it such a stretch that he might also have broken another huge boundary? It's unreasonable to question her because she's done drugs and to ignore all of the insane things about her father. Her sister Bijou Phillips was put into foster care at one point because neither of her parents was fit to raise her.

My fiance worked for a time as a courthouse clerk here in 705. I forget what her actual position was but she was privvy to cases that were happening. She said the number of incest cases were enough to make you sick. It actually was a huge part in turning her off law on the whole, just how disgusting some people can act.

same thing. having sex with your teenage daughter (even if she's willing) is abuse. a lot of the times the victims of sexual abuse in families are seemingly willing, in that they go along with it for whatever reason (attention, guilt, love) and even enjoy it on a physical level, making it all the more complicated and abusive, imo.

I don't know anyone (or I'm not aware of it if I do) who has had sex with their own father into adulthood though.

if you play "California Dreamin' backwards this is what you hear:

"Incest is best
let your mother do your brother
let your father do the rest
and remember folks, keep it in the family"
