TTC, United Way & Pizza Pizza - $1 squares

When does the TTC, United Way and Pizza Pizza fundraising campaign begin?

Last Wednesday I saw a sign advertizing it in Coxwell Station but saw no one actually selling pizza.

I also can't find any information about the campaign on the TTC, United Way Toronto, or Pizza Pizza websites.

Apparently the recipe they use for the dough is shockingly similar to plaster of paris.

I didn't bring a lunch today, nor did I get the chance to step out of the office. I'm very hungry. Hungry enough to eat a plaster of paris pizza.

While Pizza Pizza is not my favourite pizza, it is definitely one of my favourite "chain" pizzas.

They have been selling it at Coxwell station for the past 2 Wednesday's. They sell in the afternoon. By 4:30pm when I go by there are atleast 20 empty boxes.

I love the extra yelling that I get to endure while waiting for the subway now that pizza is being sold.

Heh, I found the Commission report that says they're only obligated to give 46% of proceeds to the United Way. Given the small overpriced slices, it begs the question: Where is the rest of that money going?

Pizza Pizza aren't donating the pizza are they? There's gotta be some input costs there.

Nah, but i'm sure there's some bulk discounts... anyway at retail, a party pizza is about $17 for 20 slices... but TTC cuts those in half... so there's a profit of $23 per box.... ~$12 of which goes to UW.

Hehehe, just sayin'.

Also, 'obligated to donate 46%' doesn't mean that's necessarily all they're donating.

Flashy when was the last time you gave anyone an amount of money that was higher than that which you were obligated to give?

Cashier: "That will be $9.43 please"
Flashy: "Here's $10 - keep the change ya filthy animal."

I would think every time you give to charity this is the case.

Charitable organizations always have minimum percentages for donations it is standard.

And organizations always try to give more.
