Need advice: who pays on a gay date?

So I went on a date the other day and he paid for dinner. But that's because he was sketched out from dosing from the previous night and only had a salad. And all I had was tea because my body was going through alcohol withdrawal (no joke).

So we're going to have a make-up dinner.

Silly question: who pays on a gay date? Opinions?

The one with more money

I ono ... I would have to say that it is whomever invited the other one to come out (not out of the closet, I mean out to dinner).

Cheers ... Ian

It was mutually agreed that we needed to have a make-up dinner since my torso was twitching from withdrawal and he was still grinding his teeth between sentences.

MoFo, this one is easy,

wait till the bill comes, and if the bill is closer to you, then you pay, if its closer to your date, they pay. Im sure you can finds something around to measure the distance out, forks, spoons, etc.

If it wasn't for the sex part of it I would so be gay.

(The one who initially made the date pays for the date, the other one covers silliness and other expences)

i unno...the top?

why don't you just split the cheque? or establish a sequence...he paid this time (event though it was tea and salad) so you pay next time and he pays the time after that (if there is such a time).

hehehehe

I had a date with a firend of mine a few weeks back. When the bill comes she imideately grabs it saying "You always pay when we go out and I want to grab it this time"

I honestly felt really really bad because I knew full well the bottle of wine we had was none to cheap (about $80). Two seconds after she openned the bill I kindly asked if she'd mind if I covered the bottle of wine. I don't think I ever saw someone so thankful to be let off the hook

I have a few female friends that I go out with more or less regularly. For some I cover the bill for others they cover the bill and with others it depends. A couple of them are students who are unemployed. Well being that I can scarf there savings away in a single dinner I generally grab the tab.

But in the gay situation I don't know.

I think you guys should take turns. I mean, I am not sure whether or not this is something that you would like to continue, or it was just a one time deal, but if you think you will see him for a while, you guys should take turns.

I don't think it matters whether or not you are gay, bi, straight... I go by these rules, always:

1. If you feel that you are planning on having many dates with the other one, turns should be taken.

2. If you think that this will not happen more than couple of times, then the bill should be split.

3. If you are not sure what's going to happen in the future, the bill should be split.

So, anyone going on a date with you should be aware that if you want to split the bill, it means that at the verry least, you are unsure of what's going to happen in the future.

Not quite. I have been with someone for over 3 years, and at this point I do not think this applies on my case anymore.

I didn't mean to be taken the wrong way, all I am saying is that if you are not sure what to do, whether or not you should pay or he/she should pay, you can always suggest to split the bill. That way, the other person sees that you are only trying to be fair to both of you and will respect you more.
