Off the top of my head, Via Oliveto and Innocenti have both closed. Cluck, Grunt, and Low has opened up in Via Oliveto's place (completely different ownership).

Nope, that's St. Louis. Cluck, Grunt & Low opened up after the filmed mice-in-the-window fiasco at Shakespeare's Cafe that led to the colour-coded rating system in all Toronto restaurants.

But others have said they spent $15K for a new paint job and a one hour commercial and that they couldn't have bought the publicity.

i'm curious about nacho thai thai. what a fucking disaster before they did the renos. the whole makeover was a huuuuge improvement from what it was before, i don't see how they could have possibly done worse.

My mistake, it's a couple doors down.

A bunch of places have ended up closing... the one's Jay mentioned above plus The Office, Jeremiah Bullfrog, etc. Not to mention the shoddy workmanship, unhappy owners, and menus that end up the same as before RM. I still watch though.

The places that are successful were usually doing fine in the first place (ie. Phil's BBQ, Reliable Fish & Chips, Cafe Vert)... from chatting with the owner of Reliable he said he did it for the promotion over the need to actually renovate, it was always busy before RM but admittedly is even busier now. The funny thing is he said the producers of the show approached him with the idea of being on the show and had to convince him to do it. So much for restaurant owners begging RM for their help.

I didn't realize Nacho Thai Thai had a makeover. I've been there for lunch once and it was pretty nice. But I usually get take out from there. Good food for the price. I think a carib-mexi-thai menu is a good idea.

Side Door Grill was amazing... then one day my gf and I went in there & everything was different... they had just been makeovered and it looked like hell in there. They were trying out new menu items, which were all good, but not as good as what they used to have. A week later, the place was closed forever. I still haven't seen the makeover episode on tv that ruined it all.

I will never forgive them for wrecking Oasis at College and Spadina. These fuckers need to stop. All of them.

Which restaurant was owned by the really young, completely inexperienced, asian dude? The guy was so nice, I hope it worked out for him. Anyone know which place I'm talking about?

David Adjey is a moron.

That ep when they redo the bowling alley and he's ripping on the old lady and her food. ITS A KITCHEN IN A BOWLING ALLEY.

In general I can't stand listening to that ugly fuck.

Or the Montana's episode, he's all over the cook because he's not passionate about cooking. I would have put Adjeys head in the stone oven

That was pretty gross food. Especially when she said she re-uses some things.
