Haha no, haven't you ever bought something online? You can usually review the product after you buy it on the company website.

my dinner at the "cracker barrel" chain in upstate new york (pic is blurry because my hands were shaking in slavering anticipation of the imminent carb/fat/batter feastage):

cracker barrel is supposed to be ye olde time country store/down home cooking stylee. i had the "country fried steak" (steak cutlet or possibly hamburger patty, breaded and deep fried) served with a choice of 3 sides. i picked: hashbrown casserole (!!!!), mac'n'cheese and fried okra. this dish also comes with a "country gravy" that's basically the consistency of rice pudding...thick enough to stand a fork up in.

USA! USA! USA!

I love cracker barrel so much. it takes all the awesomeness of a good meal, deep fries it till its unrecognizable and then smothers it in a light gravy.

j'adore!

There's always time for the D.

We'll leave the confederate flag in the car though.

i'm not talking about individual sausages.

i mean the bulk rounds from which you cut and fry sausage patties.

where have you seen it?

Mercy:

I don't think you can get the bulk sausages up here. I've been trying for years.

Dinner tonight:

Pan seared bone-in pork chop with sage, 10-year sherry vinegar reduction, and rapini.

I deglazed the pan with sherry vinegar and set the sauce with a little butter. The nuttiness of the sherry went really well with the sage, but the acidity really lifted the dish.

Not a bad Monday meal.

Yum!

I seem to remember seeing that, but I don't remember where...

Is it like a giant plastic-wrapped sausage, like a giant liverwurst?

It's all about scheduling, Brad. My hydro bill is through the roof, though.

i FINALLY scored some zucchini blossoms (giant ones too...some were the size of my palm!) from sources i refuse to divulge lest i not be able to get some next week (sorry to be such a fascist pig, but well, them's the breaks).

behold! tempura battered deep fried zucchini blossoms that i stuffed with ricotta, mozzarella, lemon zest, basil and mint.

Dude! Those look sick. I need to get some tempura action going at my place, still have 4 soft shell crabs (from Bill's) in the freezer.
