Stress Reducers - Who's got 'em?

    Alright, so here goes - my first attempt at creating a meaningful thread - so let's see if I get any support on this one. *eyes people he knows on the board*

    I'm interested to know how you people deal with stress - the people, things and activities in your life that make it easier for you to live.

    Personally, my list is short and sweet:

    1) Cigarettes. (Go figure)
    2) Coffee. (Another no-brainer)
    3) Booze. (Begining with my pint of beer at lunchtime, and ending with my glass of wine before bed)
    4) Driving agressively. (A serious stress buster. Nothing like blasting past someone at 40 over the limit with a sneer on your face and a cellphone glued to your ear. Preferably with a smoke hanging out of your mouth and a cup of coffee with plenty of Bailey's mixed in it on the dash)
    5) Mixing the above.
    6) Playing angry music, if you need to feel less angry.
    7) Playing happy music if you're sad.
    8) Lots of other things I can't think of right now.

    But the thing that makes my life most enjoyable, least stressful, and worth living in general is my best girl.

    There isn't nuthin' like waking up beside someone who cares for you enough to be there beside you in the first place.

    So come on now...

    stress? shit.. i dont have enough stress in my life.. i could use a little stress.. im getting fat.

    Going for a run. When I have a lot on my mind I go for a run.
  5. mediation
    working out
    violent video games
    removing yourself from the environment and placing yourself in a tranquil one.

    I don't know about reducers, but stress, that I have in abundance. Stress with a side order of depression to boot. Its not like me to get stressed at all so maybe that's why its so bad. I'm not used to the feeling so now its killing me. Ah well*sigh*, nothing a cold beer and a couple smokes can't cure.

    Sex, weed, excercise, alcohol, violent video games (only if the volume is cranked).

    ...uh... not taht I really get stressed out, but I enjoy exagerating small amounts of stress so I can use stress-relievers.

    The joys of being driven around on some all-terrain vehicle whilst shooting the shit out of some alien with a very large gatling gun.

    If that doesn't work, grab the vehicle and run them over.

    damn you! damn you for reaching down into my mouth and pulling the words right out.

    the biggest stress i have is that somebody at work is going to catch onto the fact that my job requires one day of work per week and the rest of the time i slack.

    I have two remedies for a supreme case of stress, which occurs now and then in law school:

    MUSIC [pop in some epic trance and just get lost like little red riding hood]

    My cat takes valium for stress.

    Well I'm getting over not being able to have coffee (I admit to cheating twice) and rarely do I find alcohol actually relaxing.


    1) Cycling
    2) Swimming
    3) Sitting in a Hot Tub
    4) Tanning
    5) LONG walks
    6) Shopping
    7) Cooking
    8) Cleaning (okay I'm a freak I'll admit it when I'm stressed I clean)

    All tend to reduce my stress levels.

    if i went shopping when i was stressed, i'd either end up a) facing assault charges or b) dead. i get dizzy just thinking about going to the mall.

    yeah malls freak me out to the point where I dont go into them anymore.

    Coffee should not be used as a stress reliever as it contains caffeine....caffeine is a stimulant which creates stress on the body..

    For me:
    1) Shifting gears in my car
    2) Having a couple brewskies
    3) Dancing the brewskies off
    4) Deep breathing
    5) Muscle relaxation (this one works great)
    6) sex (when its available)
