Yes. My goddam tonsils do this all the time--at the hint of a germ, off they go. They won't take them out anymore, all they do is give me antibiotics which a) give you yeast infections and b) stop working for you if you take them all the time--and this happens tome like 3 times a year!

it's the throat/ear thing. happens once or twice a year...

glad to hear some of you are feeling just fine. can one of you please go to the hardware store and get me some sandpaper for my tongue?

I'm sooo sick and it won't go away!!! I feel like my heads gonna explode and I can't concentrate on anything. I'd have to say on a brighter note that Tylenol cold and flu daytime is quite enjoyable. Puts me into a zone where i just don't care anymore.

oranges have really good press, but potatoes and apples have more vitamin C.

eat those french fries!!! that'll make you healthy. :D

Two days ago I started to get a really nervous feeling in my stomach. As the day went on the feeling got worse and worse, dispite the fact that my day was going better and better. By midnight I thought I was going to die and not make to the morning because my stomach was hurting so badly (If that feeling kept up I didn't want to make it till morning, my god that was awful!). By morning it had gotten a lot better but I'm still feeling little bits of what ever it was.

I hope you're feeling better soon.:)

yup, I'm the last of my 3 roomates to get the sickness going around....

starts with a sore throat and an unbearably stuffed head and than moves on to wreched cough. You feel sick and crappy but somewhat functional, not quite bed ridden except for maybe a day or two... seems to last a week to 10 days if you count the last 5 or so days that you just spend with a hacking cough.

well' that's my experience with sickness right now,

    hmmm,

it appears i was wrong about the potato thing.

i did some research on the web and discovered that oranges usually have 2 or 3 times as much vitamin c as potatos.

    whaddya know?

yeah, but the amount of vitamin c in an orange or orange juice is still way way way lower than the amount needed to make a sizeable difference on immune function anyways

you're pretty much wasting your time if you're not taking 2000mg vit C or more.

whoa dude, that sounds a lot worse than the way I feel! I guess it can really take time for your system to get fully better after being really sick. I'm still a tad grumpy because of the throat and the low energy, 'cause tonight I'm going into a weekend-long karate seminar. nice timing!

btw - I didn't know apples had more c than oranges.. after I read that I ran to the fridge and grabbed my last one.

isn't there a top end where you just piss the extra out? what's the ideal range?

where is the seminar? I wasn't informed of any this month. Are you going to stratford competition comming up soon, how about Ron Day's 25th anniversary in Kitchener?

yeah, in the course of this searching i came across some serious vitamin c recommendations.

i'm a big fan of the stuff and when i'm sick i binge on it to prevent the onset of secondary (bacterial or viral) infections. usually 2000-3000mg a day plus the usual other anti-oxidants. but on one site the guy was recommending 1000mg every hour for that purpose!!! up to the point where your shits get too loss, then ease off because you've basically saturated your system with the stuff.

this article attacks vitamin c as a useful tool for fighting cancer or the common cold.

yap. vitamin c is water soluble so any excess is just excreted through urine. however, reccomendations like the RDA etc. are vastly underestimated and out of date, and significant evidence shows the body needs and can benefit from larger doses. there are time release vitamin C tablets you can buy that help to make it easy to get enough vitamin C in your system and prevent there from being too much at one time and consequently pissed out

I'd say taking 1.5-2 grams (1500-2000mg) initially - ease into it, since people who aren't used to that much vitamin C can get the runs. I take 3-6 grams with no problem

it's at the regal constellation. you probably haven't heard of it because our organization usually just goes to competitions and seminars within itself. I'm afraid I don't know much about events that go on outside of it.

kinda like myself and tribe.. hmm..

ps- thx deep, I'm gonna go replenish my vitamin c supply and chow down.

deep, check out this link- sorta sinister

basically says that pauling was full of shit, his studies were flawed, he gave money to anybody who endorsed his ideas and he in turn was backed by a major pharmaceutical company responsible for most vitamin c production.

But no vomitous? The thing that sucks about being cik now is that I was stomach-sick the week before last, so I don't really feel that I can take another sick day. We'll see how bad it gets though. But the stomach thing was awful, I puked from 10 pm Sunday night till 10 am Monday morning. Before that I can't remember the lats time I thre up when I was stone cold sober.

vitamin C... I should do good things like that for my body.
