    Kum Jug is great! :D
but it's hard to convince people to go there since New Ho King opened up...

my favourite restaurant would have to be The Living Well,
very eclectic menu, and always interesting staff :)

I couldn't agree more with every word you said. Best restaurant I've been to in Toronto hands down.

another vote for salad king...although i only make it up to 3 chilis for the orange chicken...also love the sunset grill for breakfast...

& those rumours about the keg mansion being haunted are pretty true...i had a few friends who worked there...apparently it's in the upper part of the mansion...

however i enjoy the bishop & belcher for food...always tasty & anytime i can play sorry with my dinner it's a plus...

On another note ... Best meal for under $10 is for sure to be found at The Red Room ... great cheap food really nice atmosphere, and when we go there we get to control the music that's being played in the restaurant :)

Agreed, I love the red room! Only complaint is service is sometimes sketchy and slow.

    Monsoon on Simcoe street!

Sick ass Asian fusion food, and the washrooms have waterfall taps. But it is about $40 a plate which is only worth while on special occasions ;)

Jules at spadina and Queen is also good, for just over $10 you can get a wicked crepe with a nice mixed green salad!

Ugh, I can't decide. I love food too much! Too many restos to eat at!

No one is my fave! I treat all my children the same!!!

However, since you are visiting I suggest to eat from every "town", "village", "neighbourhood". Well not from every...but you get what I mean. ;)

Since I don't live in Toronto...

My favortie restaurants around town (Durham) are:

Paps - UNBEATABLE philly cheese steak AND cute waitresses

Masey's - (formerly The Big 'M') This place has withstood the test of time and has been on Liverpool rd. Since Pickering was a farm town!

so if you're ever out east...

    Peace & love. D

N'awlins at king and John....sweet jazz, and Creole/Itallian fusion cooking that fucking RULES.

    also..

Carmens Club steak and seafood....if you don't know...look it up...it's the MOST SLEPT ON, but hands down best steak place in Toronto...expect to pay 45.00 bucks and up though....booo!

    Here we go,

Alex D good call on Rocco's the location on Queensway is the better one, there is another on islington but it used to be a Mc D's not the same atmoshere

    Herneiro Wellesley/Yonge
For eat in Pizza/pasta this place is solid and romantic, also easy on the wallet not cheap, but fine dining for around $20 a plate

    La Castile 427/Dundas
    The Bomb!!!
Very fine dining they have a piano bar and the best red meat around so fresh so succulent, I have never had a bad experience here but be prepared for @ least $100 bill without drinks

    Hernando's Wellesley/Yonge
the best Mexican hole in the wall there is

    Canyon Creek Queensway/427
I know I know.. but their food is solid and the service is great they put lots of emphasis on keeping you satisfied not bad at all for a restaurant chain.

has anyone been to Carmen's of YYZ?
    I've always wanted to go>.....

    Other GREAT places:
    Remy's
    Sera Pizza and Pasta
Zoom (I have no idea what half the stuff on the menu is but it was gooood when I ate there :) )
    Urban on King St. W
    Bistro 990 (SO good)

that is all I can think of

Gypsy's still awesome, new menu or not! Can't beat their funky ambience.

    Also:

    the Riv
Citron - next to Gypsy - it's scrumptious ... (esp. the Veggie Morroccan dish)
Zizi Trattoria - penne a la vodka = yummy
    Butler's Pantry - good & cheap (< $10 with salad)
Massimo's pizza - best Margerita (?) slice in the city!!
Swan - for brunch, it's awesome.
Azul - neat atmosphere, interesting drinks ... but no pop for rum-n-cokes ... What the Hell?
    Friendly Thai - on Queen

    My 2 cents ...
    :)
