Looking for new Monitors
Looking for some new Studio Reference Monitors.
Able to spend anywhere between $0 to $700cdn for a pair. Any suggestions? Last edited by Blue Meanies; 11-18-2009 at 12:00 PM. |

Regardless of their reputation in other areas Behringer makes excellent Studio Monitors. Check out the Behringer Truth B2031a. They are very well reviewed and L+M has them for $470 for a pair. You could get a sub too!

Realistically you could ANYTHING for referencing. As long as you know your speakers and your room. I know a few people that use the Truths and swear by them, Im not crazy about the sound of them but thats me. Ive been using Reveal Actives for about 9 years now and I dont know what I would change them for. Maybe a pair of Dynaudio or Genelec but I still dont see a real reason why.
Go to L+M, bring music YOU KNOW and take your time and listen to different speakers. |

The TRUTH B2030A are also great for their compact size. the 8 3/4 woofer is reduced to a 6 3/4 woofer and the overall size of each box is reduced as well. Dont let the smaller size worry you though.. these things pound over a very large range and sound extremely flat. They are also known for strong reliability and wont degrade over long periods of time. Both sizes are very solid monitors and awesome bang for your buck. |

Selling my blue sky exo's if you're looking for sub'd system.
if you're looking to buy a used pair for $700, you may find a pair of Dynaudio BM5A's. OR if you want a sub'd system, I saw a Blue Sky MediaDesk 2.1 System up on craiglist for less then $700 not to long ago. I was happy with the exo's as a B reference. |

I was checking out the KRK rockits. Anyone ever used them? Also sorry but I'm not currently in Toronto so I can't go to L&M. I can check out different brands where I am though but some brands aren't available here.
Keep em coming. Cheers BM |

I personally believe rokits (5's or 6's anyways, never been in the ame room as a pair of 8's) lack low end.. good punch, no crunch... and I'm not down with adding the optional sub as it sort of defeats the purpose of having a nice set of reference monitors.

Something about the rockits bug me everytime I hear them. It's not just the low end it's something else that I can't put my finger on. Definately the Truths sound better.

Most of you say truths but I was under the impression behringer makes shit audio components? I've never heard a pair of them personally but hearing these good things make me wonder.
I want great reference monitors. I don't want something that adds to the low/mid/high freq. I'd like as flat as possible reference. Is that how the truths sound? I really don't want a 2.1 system. I'd like to just get a pair of monitors, no sub. Damn spending money is hard! Last edited by Blue Meanies; 11-27-2009 at 05:18 AM. |

I myself have not really played with much else from Behringer so I dont have much to say about them as a company. I just know that the B2030A's and B2031A's are great... very flat... and cover the range os sound from top to bottom quite well. |

<---2031A owner, and quite happy with them - and yes, this is one of those items that Behringer somehow nailed on the head. I nabbed the 2092A (360W) sub as well (my setup's primarily for DJing, not production) and the whole shebang delivers great warmth and clarity at high volume. Honestly, pound for pound, our front room has better sound than any of the club rigs I played on this year.

My advice avoid the NS10's. Get some Mackies if you can find 'em in your price range.
