Cheap place for clothing alterations downtown?
I have a great pair of jeans with a broken zipper.. and I don't have much cash.
Can anyone recommend a favourite place for alterations downtown? (I'm at Queen and University). Many thanks! |

if it's just a broken zipper, you could go to any "alterations/dry cleaning" place...

there is a drycleaner at queen and john, just north of queen. i believe it's called queen drycleaners, or john drycleaners (see what they did there?)
there is this vietnamese couple who runs the place, and the wife does the alterations on site. they might be able to help you out. only caveat: this couple loves me and my boyfriend because he is viet and they treat him like the son they never had. so i may get better service and prices than a normal whitey would. |

I bought a pair of jeans on the weekend for like $20. They're all rad and ripped up and all that, but they have this one rip that is too close to my crotch for comfort. Like, it's not a crotch rip, but I feel like if I got polluted and did a bunch of scissor kicks or something, it might turn into a crotch rip.
Normally, I'd just iron a patch on the inside and call it a day, but they're not only rippy, they're also stretchy. Would reinforcing the rip line with a seam stop it from ever ripping towards my crotch? I basically just need a good way to stop a rip in my stretchy jeans from spreading and becoming pornographic. Suggestions? Please and thank you. |

^^^ Take it to get altered. My love ripped his jeans this summer and our tailor did a fantastic job fixing it: reinforced and stitched. You barely notice the repair.
My tailor's in the West End: High Park Tailoring : 401 Roncesvalles, a few shops south of Howard Park. 416-533-5614. He's reasonably priced and can have a quick turnaround if you require it. |

another option worth recommending:
Queen Cleaners on Queen St West just East of Lansdowne. right here, behind the firetruck. Last edited by [- FuNKtiOn -]; 11-16-2009 at 11:50 AM. |

Booty Bits, I ended up going to the drycleaner you suggested on John St... Really enjoyed chatting with the guy who owns the place and he only charged me $10, ready the next day. Thanks for the suggestion
