Toy Help

probably doesnt need its own thread but...

Whats hot with 3 yr old girls right now?

Is there any hand held video game type things out there for 3yr old girls? like a gameboy type thing?

Particularly any toys in spanish? (other than the obvious Dora, who I heard is now multilingual and speaking french too, and that i need to watch out that i dont buy her in french)

I gotta buy something for my sister. Hopefully the rat bastards at cuban customs dont confiscate it.

I thought this thread was about something else...

As far as I know 3 yr olds like bubbles (not really expensive but they love it), play dough, and princesses

No like costume type clothing. You can buy ok stuff at toy stores or get nicer stuff at costume stores. Hats,wings,crowns,boas,jewelry/beads,capes etc. Little girls love that stuff and it will get pulled out time and time again.

Just pack the bubbles in a ziploc bag if you're that concerned.

With respect to Cuban customs:

- your carry-on luggage gets x-rayed on the way out of the airport once you arrive
- they do not know what iPods or Nintendo DS's are, so they will question you (x-ray will pick up these things). They won't be confiscated if they are for personal use.

bubble solution is just dish soap mixed with water. You could always dump it out and just refill with new solution when you arrive. If you are worried about not having the right kind of soap down there, take a little container of it with you.

dish soap mixed with water alone is shitty bubble solution. You need to add glycerin.

Wiseman is right on the money DG....

DRESS UP!!!!

trust.

If you want to go the easy route, go to ToysRUs and pick up a princess kit... comes with shoe's, tiara, dress. There is a whole section of this stuff. If they're into Disney, you can go to the Disney store and pick them up a Jasmine costume or Ariel, or one of many other disney princesses.

If they're not into the princess thing and you're feeling creative (or exceptionally good at finding stuff), try animal costumes.

They will put on a show for you!

on the dress up note: dollar stores are awesome for jewellery (necklaces and bracelets galore). Dress up is always, always popular.

on the hand held "games": V-Tech has a line of hand helds for children, though I think most start for age 4. Also interactive books. Also digi-cams for children which are awesome.
Not sure how much you are willing to spend, but you can peruse the whole line here: V-Tech 3-5years and Toys R Us has a selection of those.

Valentina loved (and still does) puzzles as early as 2. I mean regular puzzles, the pressed cardboard ones. You can find them starting at 12 pieces and working your way up. The suggested age range is always on the box.

Arts and Crafts stuff. And this you can get at any craft store.

yeh i looked at the puzzles, but that gets a bit bulky for the suitcase, and the only dress up clothes they had at zellers were ugly and expensive. (i dont toysrus, just walmart and zellers).

OK SERIOUSLY HOW DARE THEY SELL my little ponys that dont come with brushes. ummmmmm hello ponies are supposed to come with brushes. like wtf. my poor ponies hair, err i mean my sisters ponies, are gonna have horrible looking hair by the time they reach cuba, and how will they ever get the sand out of their hair.

so i got 2 ponies, 1 thats a dress up pony that came with a bicycle (for $5 at walmart regularly $20 SCORE).
a baby pony for the big ponies to look after.
a strawberry shortcake (orange blossom cause she is black, not as cute as the shortcakes were when i was kid, and not smelly like they were either BOO).
some dinky cars for the little boys i saw in a picture with her, and i liked cars when i was kid, so why shouldnt she.
umm some like weeble people (that were more $$ than I thought GRRR).
one of those things you write on and then you can make it disappear and rewrite on it.
and a giant blow up swan for riding on in the water.
and a hello kitty dress for $5, a top with princess on it (that i got for free cause he forgot to ring it in SUCKER, i was waiting for the alarm to go off when I left the store) and some pink leggings to go with it. (hoping she doesnt hate pink).
and i think thats it, and then Im gonna get some colouring books and crayons stuff and bits from the $ store.
and then i got a Dora backup and took everything out of the boxes and stuffed it in there so its packs smaller.
and I think that pretty much makes my suitcase exceed the weight limit you are allowed the whole lot is surprisingly heavy.

I hope my, err her, ponies will be ok being stuffed in a backpack until the middle of september, im going to check on them at lunch time and make sure they are not suffocating or anything. I dont want their beautiful hair to go all retarded

I have absolutely no clue what to get my step-mother, i dont know anything about her
