If anyone needs or wants anything from Gap, Old Navy or Banana Republic - here's a coupon for 30% off (from Nov 12-15), with 5% going to the Canadian AIDS Society.
Gap Give&Get email template

Please pass this on to all your friends and family - there is no money to advertise this, so it's all being done by word of mouth!

get them something perishable, just like your relationship might be.

send cookies to his work, bake him a cake, get him tickets for something, take him to dinner, cook him a steak and give him a beejer. you know.

fyi (tho you probably already know this) - fantasy is better than the real thing. let it remain a fantasy.

Cake and a card is good, you could also take them out for dinner. Dinner and a movie. All good options. Just go have fun together.

All good suggestions - I'd even go with just a fancy cupcake from dufflet's, if it's a really new thing (<1month).

If it's a little longer than that, and the movie idea doesn't work, than maybe a book (paperback)? Not terribly personal, not terribly expensive, and can either be a lasting memory, or easily forgotten.

In reality most guys just want sex and will be ecstatic if you buy/make them food and then sleep with them.

My sister called to tell me about a great job at the ministry she wanted me to apply for. Once she read through the first 2 sentences, I had to tell her to stop. (I found it online).

"You will: provide strategic leadership, planning, coordination and specialized French-language education expertise in the development, interpretation, application and implementation of policies, guidelines and standards; identify and analyze current and emerging issues in French-language education which may have province-wide impact to formulate recommendations, strategies and policy options; liaise with a broad range of French-language education stakeholders and interest groups, and participate on ministry, inter-ministerial and inter-provincial committees to identify stakeholder needs; lead and/or develop research, training and/or policy materials and submissions."

Sitting in front of a computer and implementing policy. God no. Leave me with my wacky, crazy students. That is where I am most happy.

watching a co-worker squirm and get schooled over the past few days for stuff that has been ongoing for so long has been the most surprising bonus to my day!

not my usual way...but oddly satisfying!

Mais oui ma chère!

Half French-Canadian, but learned to speak fluently in Martinique during my teen years. I'm not as comfortable in French as I am in English however. It takes me a couple of hours with my family before it flows naturally (kinda sorta ). I still make so many mistakes.

Here's the posting:Ontario Public Service Careers - Job Preview

My sister found it a week before but didn't inform me until 6pm of the night it closed. She was very disappointed that I said no, but I would have needed two letters of reference from previous Principals (Not easy to get by midnight that night). Unfortunately my sis didn't realize what was involved, but I love her for looking out for me.

In addition, it isn't my thing. I love the kids. If you're interested, give them a call. Maybe it's still open? Cheers hun!!

The other day my boyfriend said to me "Shouldn't we be fighting more??". The two of us get along so well. We do have fights, but both of us take the time to understand where the other is coming from. I feel like I've really grown a lot as a person and I feel as a couple we've really grown as well. I'm really proud of that.

I will never fail to understand why people bring their children to baby showers, where they are forced to watch a fuckload of toys being unwrapped and sternly told that they are not for them. You may as well take a diabetic to Candyland or compulsive eater to Mandarin.

haha.. I thought the opposite was true!

Baby showers a good to bring children so mum can get out of the house and not have to worry about child care, or the child going a bit crazy with all the other kids at the shower

they have to learn somehow that just b/c it's a present, doesn't mean it's for them

never too young to learn some discipline

Teaching them a lesson is nice and all, but baby showers are miserable enough as is without moms having to run after their kids and subdue their squalling- without even being able to relax and enjoy their remotely redeeming factor- the spread.

No discipline effort is worth having to sacrifice the proper enjoyment of spinach dip in a rye bread bowl, and guacamole.

so have an adults-only spread party
baby showers are to remind you of the misery and grief that come with raising children, the food is there so you can eat the depression away

Sorry, I'm working my way up to coming out of the closet and embracing my true identity a a hyena. Until then though, the cat stays in the bag.
