Am I the only one annoyed by those ribbon-y things they put on cheap tops (including some cashmere sweaters) to hang them on display hangers, and then you think well I shouldn't really cut them off because there they are but they are so annoying that you have to?

I hate cutting ribbon though: it seems like such a waste; there's part of me that wants to do something with it (mind you, I also have a hard time throwing out rubber bands and twist ties, though those have come in handy).

I find them annoying as all get out too. Everytime I put a top on they manage to wriggle themselves out. However, if you do have a top/dress with skimpy straps, they are great for hanging. They prevent the straps from stretching.

So as there is a higher-up job I want opening up here I've decided to step up how I look on office days at work - you know that whole "dress for the job you want" thing. Although funnily enough if I do get it I would wear field clothes a lot more LOL. But I figure it never hurts to look a bit nicer, right? And the woman doing the hiring (who is already my supervisor) dresses up for work, including hair and makeup and not everyone does around here, so I figure it must be important to her and I want to make a good impression.
I'm even wearing make-up today! OK... it's just a bit of powder and some lipgloss, but still! It only added like 2 minutes to the 5-minute morning routine of put hair in ponytail and brush teeth, so it's doable LOL. Actually, on that note - can anyone recommend a good plain clear lipgloss? Fruit/dessert smells are OK. $$$$ is not. Preferably one that's good for winter as it'll be snow here soon.

I dont wear a lot of make up either sk8 and I actually cant stand the goopy feeling of most lip glosses. Burts Bees has a pomegranate lip 'balm' that goes on with a hint of color and isnt thick at all. Its also under $5 which is great.

It makes my lips noticeably glossy and rose coloured and it's really moisturizing - never goopy or tacky. It also stays on for a while. It's the goods for sure. |

then cut the ribbon and keep it in the same drawer as the elastics and twist ties.

I love my esl student. He rushed in at the end of the day to show me $4 (looking up and saying, "Money.. Money", his hand upraised with the 2 toonies in his palm) and then shoved the poster I had made for our Hallowe'en dancing in my face. I think he took it off the hallway wall so I would know what the money was for.

thanks so much! I bought these cheesy tools from Dollerama and found the stencil on Internet. I always thought about carving pumpkins, but never really felt inspired until this year.Plus, I love MJ and I wanted to see how difficult it is... And it is, it took me 2 hours, but I had so much fun! I would probably be even more fun doing it with kids. ![]() I had no idea there are actually specific tools to carve and shade, people are DEEP! Maybe next year I will get them. Well, just thought I would share with you, it made me happy, so hopefully it put a smile on your face.

Same. I used to read this giant book of Calvin and Hobbes comics and laugh histerically in my room.

Agreed. It was very challenging for me since my ex husband and I were together for 9 years and known eachother for 12. There was so much between us... Pain and investment and as hard as it was, we had to it off all communication. We talk through text like once a month, but it's just not healthy for either of us, and we can't move on with our lives any other way.

Recent posts in this thread make me want to pull my Calvin & Hobbes collection out of storage and read all of those books (ten, I think?) again.

That stuff made me cry laughing. I remember even just looking at pictures of Calvin making strange faces, and Calving riding in his parents' hatchback and breaking out into hyserics. So good! |
