1 gb, i rarely ever download sets etc from my phone, as i had an Iphone before so downloading a set was not an option, and i had a 6GB data plan with it, but instead of cancelling a 3yr data plan, i just changed it to a 1gb data plan that my Nexus One can use, as the iphone one, authenticates the data plan, so it can access it so it wouldnt work with my Nexus One.

so i wanted to see if i could, and was very impressed.

when i used to tether my iphone to my lappy the speeds were pretty decent i could open chrome, and open 10 pages at once and all were loaded within 5 - 7 seconds.

i havent tethered the Nexus One as of yet, but when i do, i will def post the speeds by comparison.

i as just amazed at a 350 - 550 kbps download, that my phones network monitor has on it, and i was blown away, but i guess thats why pages seem to almost load instantly on it.

i just ditched Rogers for Teksavvy DSL, and with a 200GB monthly cap its perfect for me.
41 $ after tax/month.

and the speeds are decent. im not paying rogers any more money.

and i know i wont get charged for extraneous fees etc that Rogers likes to just make up.

as well i bought the modem, so that way im not ' renting ' it, and if i every switch to another DSL service, i dont need to buy a new modem.

Effective immediately, tethering will continue to be included at no additional charge for Fido customers who subscribe to a data add-on of 1GB and above. This new policy replaces the current tethering promotion, originally set to expire on May 3, 2010. Fido is dedicated to helping our customers adopt and benefit from innovative new technologies and applications like tethering.

tethering has been free since i got my iphone, and free if you have 1GB data plan or higher.
they have never charged to tether, its just an existing option if your device supports tethering.

so unless they are charging to tether for plans under 1GB i.e. the 500MB plan then i do not unnderstand, unless they plan to start charging to tether.

well up until now it was technically $5 a month if you had a 500 mb plan on fido. that's because you couldn't turn the option on in your phone unless you had 1 gig.

i didn't like the policy but when i saw how much bw gets eaten up by browsing websites i didn't really care cause you'd need 1 gig of data anyways. and think about all the stupid updates that go on in the background of your computer too.

ah i see, i didnt know they were charging 5$ to tether, as i had the 6GB option, and now have the 1 GB option.

but i would not use even the 6GB data option as your home internet service tethered from a phone, its nice in a pinch, but my avg monthly Bandwidth at home, is upwards of 50 - 60 GB easy.

but thats me

Is there really 4G? I've seen commercials in the US for it, one of the carriers.

is that only your download and not upload tests?
