TIPS: Posting party reviews...
Party Review tips
The best reviews are always ones with lots of detail about the event. Write from the perspective of someone you don't know reading your review - someone who hasn't been to the event... Remember that many of the people who are reading these reviews are from other cities across Canada and around the world, and may not even be registered board members! Years from now you want somebody to go back and read your review and be able to get a good idea what the event was like.... The best reviews always cover: 1. music 2. venue / production 3. vibe Try to avoid: 1. Reviewing your own event if you the promoter or associated with the event - it looks really lame. 2. Name dropping. While your friends names are recognized by you and your friends, they may not be by 95% of the people who are reading your review. 3. Promoting the next event in the review. Putting an event listing in your review may mean your post and perhaps the entire thread gets deleted. 4. Know when to stop adding posts to a review thread. Adding fluffy additional posts to a review thread does not enighten anybody as to what the event was like. 5. One line posts. "It was wicked!!" is not a party review, it is a cry for help. We need detail! 6. Posts that appear to be spam for other sites, or pose as reviews to re-direct traffic to other sites will be deleted. 7. Don't post comments in a review if you didn't attend the event. "I didn't go, but yada yada..." is not a review and posts like that may be be deleted in the thread at the admins discretion. Save your typing fingers for an event you actually went to. 8. In a review for and event, keep on topic! Don't review other clubs or nights not related to the event you are reviewing and posting in.
