Krafty Kuts!!!!!!!!!!!
Been awhile since ive been to the reverb and that special vibe was still there.
Came in to hear good chunk of RobbG playing. This man doesn not fuck around. He's blunt on the decks and played as though he was headlining. Hamilton's Star from last week MickeyD went head to head with Michie in the back room played some funky breaks to prepare us for krafty. KRAFTY IS AWESOME. I liked him alot cause he into the crowd, but whenever he would mess up on the juggling, he would just stop everything.. and try it again. Not even caring about the crowd at that time. His mission was to get that juggling to point. One of the very few djs that actually got me dancing from the start to the end. BUTT................. BUTT.................... Man of the night had to be ROBB G and his drunkeness ( i hope ). He was the show and Krafty was supplying the music. Best move was when he fell then he gets back up, turns around and is face to face to a couple making out on stage. He was in middle of it, acting like ""WTF R U GUYS DOING??"". FUNNU STUFF!! Also when Robb was supporting BoxFresh and thinking of the best dance moves. GREAT NIGHT!! Thanks Farbs Davo Last edited by G-FrEsH; 11-26-2006 at 01:36 PM. |

WoW... that is pretty much the only words to describe this event...
Robb G got the crowd bustin a move so early in the nite, but thats no wonder cause his set was oh so funky! Then the other room got jam packed when mickey D and michie dished it out people were dancin so hard i thought the floor was gunna fall through lol Then we all waited patiently for the man himself Krafty Kuts!! My fav dj and this was the first time i got to finally see him live... and i was defiantely impressed!! His set just blew my mind and watching him scratch and shake his booty while he dj'd was just awesome! But like dave said... i think Robb was def a site to see last nite haha The fall was classic but his dancing was even better!!! Michie bustin a move on stage was sweet too... she showed all those boys her dancin skills ![]() Good nite everyone all the djs!! Wish i coulda seen everyone but i was def impressed with everyone i got too see!! Thanks Make it Funky!!! -Ash |

THANK YOU EVERYONE! Ive not felt like that since the very first Make It Funky almost 2 years ago when this whole strange trip began. You guys made this party something really special and Im glad that everyone could be a part of it. We plan to do many more events at the reverb as it absolutely fit the party. More later for now heres a few pics from the 250 or so shots taken throughout the night.

i had wayy to much to drink. basically i remember getting there, after killing bottle of tequila and some beers with my friend (nathan you didnt help us, you pussied out), having some more beers and shots inside, going upstairs where mikeyd and michie were really good, trying to sing on the microphone (it was off) and thats pretty much it. i have these flashbacks of krafty kuts, blc and somehow i think i was dancing on the stage.
im never drinking again ! |

This was an absolute AWESOME jam!
Many thanks to Linzee for the ticks! Arrived after the wine & food expo and walked into room that was beautifully set. The funk outfit playing was on-point and I would love to see them perform again. I had never heard Krafty Kuts before and thoroughly enjoyed the track selection - lot's of the breaks I love. It was nice to break a sweat on the dancefloor again. Finally, it's been a while since I've shown my party card at the door so big shouts to: Dan, Chu, Robb, Naomi, Jess, Linz, Ivan and others who I ran into. So nice to see all of you ![]() Cheers, MD p.s. when is the next breaks event

In My 11-12 years of playing in Toronto I would have to say that was the best Toronto Breaks Event I've ever been to.
Music, Vibe and crowd... Mayhem and good vibes... Thank you... Was there a thread saying breaks was dead?? Your Dead Wrong...Dead, Dead wrong... |

holy hell that was damn good.
arrived a little after 11:30 and was really digging Moses Mayes and Brownman. gotta love the live horns and keys. but the reason we all made the trip was for the Krafty one. and he did not disappoint! he played a lot of the tunes hes been hammering for the last bit, including about 70% of the tunes from his most recent Triple J mix, but those are all tunes that are meant to be heard in the club so needless to say it was pure dancefloor destruction. I was expecting more of the midtempo funky vibe, but he ended out the set with a variety of tunes right up that alley including the Cut Chemist remix of Shadow's Number Song, into Organ Donor, some beatjuggling, and of course Tricka Technology which had every single person in the Reverb hopping. great set all in all, and then Chu came on and kept things a rockin. I know personally at least a few non-breaks type people that have been won over from this night, and its been a while since I've seen every single person within view absolutely lovin' things up - hands in the air, busting the moves, and just all around spreading the good vibes. so with that, mad respect going out to the MiF and NuFunk peeps for a tip top night! |

HOLY SHIT!!!
this night was totaaaaaally off the hook. I didn't get there until after midnight, but we cought most of Moses Mayes set. These guys were PHENOMINAL. Such a tight band. Played everything from classic funk to disco-ish to House. They had the crowd all ready and pumped up for Krafty Kuts. Kraft Kuts didn't dissapoint whatsoever. Tight mixes, crazy tunes and booty shakin' baselines that kept me on my feet the whole time i was there. The venue was PACKED. I've never seen the reverb shoulder to shoulder like that. The vibe was awesome and the mature crowd was an excellant change of atmostphere for that venue. We stayed for a good chunk of Big League Chu, who also layed the smackdown with some awesome breaks tunage. Bigups to MiF for making it a great jam, and helping make this one of the best Birthday Weekends I could ever ask for! I look forward to the next jam! |

Moses Mayes... wow. but Brownman.... jeebus. I spent 7 years of my life playing trumpet. I remember that dude from "scene" in toronto. I think I may have punked him when we were teens, dissing his school.

Wow!!
That pic kills all hope of me denying anything. I blame it all on Mr Krafty for laying down the dirty beats that made me do it. Funniest part of that pic for me though is that Michie is dancing over me to prove she won the "dance off". It was obviously apparent that I had a blast, easily the best party in this city in 5 years. Some friends from Montreal who were there couldn't believe how good it was; they asked me if all the parties were like this in Toronto. Awesome crowd, great venue, stellar music and I've been completely sold on the mix of breaks DJs and funky bands. |

The word "vibe" can be pretty cliche, but I gotta say there was definitely a great vibe on Saturday. Great crowd and great beats. My only beef was that the sound was obviously tweaked for a live show and not beats. But overall, this jaded old has-been had a great time. Good job Farbs.

WOW!! amazing night
i was soo rediculously drunk as per usual, but amazingly I remember the majority of a memorable night. I got in about 1/2 way throught Robbs set, and I couldn't beleive the turn out for a breaks party, everyone was rocking out and smiling. Robb layed it down, proper as per usual. I brought out about 8 breaks noobs, and evryone of there breakbeat cherries was popped. Best VIbEs I've yet to experience at a Toronto party. Huge big ups to Jay and Farbs, and everyone else that played a role in this party. I really wanted to here Kobayashi play, but upstairs just seemed abit too crowded for my personal comfort, although it was nice too see the 2nd room get so much attention. Moses Mayes had an amazing performance, soo much positives energy coming from that band, and Brownman, was a wicked addition to that group. And kra-kra-krafty kuts tore the roof off that place, last i saw him was sham 2003, he destroyed the crowd then, and he did it again here. Such a wicked chill guy also, easy to talk too. After krafty kuts, the night got kind of blurry, but I remember BLC rocking the place, and I'm pretty sure I didn't stop dancing so ya, wicked set. The Re-verb is a wicked venue, with a wicked staff, the bartenders did a good job at making sure there was always some sort of alcoholic beverage in my hand. Only dissapointment was not being able to buy his Freakshow cd at the party. Does anyone know it's in most music stores like HMV? I saw some Make It Funky and Nufunk.ca tshirts, at the vendor, that I'd also like to snag up, where can I find them? |
